Christmas fire extreme

Well Christmas is over and this bah-humbug guy had an o.k. Christmas. The build-up and stress leading up to the day wasn't enjoyable, but I did enjoy visiting family.
After the holiday J and I went to Victoria for a couple of days to get away. Upon our return, we found out that my mother's apartment was on fire. (The big fire in Surrey.) Fortunately, she was at work.

She made it into the province. I scanned the newspaper but am having some difficulty getting the photo's on the blog. I hope to have something up soon. Unlike many of the residents that are now homeless, she had insurance. (I should hope so as she works for an Insurance Company!).

Everything will work out.

harumphy!!!

I do wish that technology did not scare me and that I too could access this blog more often! I have now learned how to get to this page and would like to share my sentiments as they are drastically different than his! I do believe that Christmas is what you make it. Instead of looking around at people with frowns, debt and lack of patience and compassion we can be thankful that we are not like them. The true meaning of Christmas is not in the food and the pretty packages, it is in the manger and some cloth. Our gift should be of praise and thanksgiving not bahumbugs and finger pointing. I had a great Christmas with family and friends all around a huge table. One little man of 4 who was dancing with joy as he marvelled at each request Santa had answered (except for the Hitachi Digger!!) Christmas is the most wonderful time of the year and I just wish the spirit could last all year....love, peace, joy and most of all compassion!

Christmas Train

So yesterday I spent most of the day getting groceries, (especially when I thought I would be relaxing with a cup of starbucks doing a whole lot of nothing), and assisting Jill in baking Christmas Day desserts.
Once again my increasing dissapointment with Christmas as a commercial event was not let down. Long line ups, scowls, angry mutterings, and vicious drivers are everywhere. I went to Wal Mart with Jill last weekend and there was not one smile, or one word of good cheer to anyone. Especially to the cashiers. There were piles of discarded products piling up at teller checkouts. Remnants of a gift idea deemed not good enough for a greedy child, selfish wife or husband. The meaning of Christmas rings true today: "Buy, Buy, Buy!"

So at least I thought that yesterday I could enjoy the Stanley Park Christmas train, but no, I have to put up with my father-in-law's and brother-in-law's father's racist ramblings about First nations people wanting the lumber from the downed trees from the storm. So I continued to eat my pretzel and look at the lights.

Now it's Christmas eve, and I look forward to the holidays being over. Maybe when I have children the joy of Christmas will return to my heart. But for now it remains a commercialized machine that has forgotten the original message from which it came and it has made us all the poorer for it.

Eric.

Obviously I was not consulted on this because I do not understand!!!! Technology is far above me and my passion for autism! It is fact, he lies....he went Christmas shopping today....I dragged him kicking and screaming but at last we are finished(hopefully)! Merry Christmas to all and to all a great New Year! Jill

Crazy Christmas

I just want to say I'm glad that I did my shopping weeks ago. Do not go near the malls if you value your life or your sanity!.
